Weekend Reads: Feminist Crock Pots, Outgoing Introverts & Restaurant Critics

Long week. Need weekend. Send wine. (That's all I can muster after the week I just had, folks, sorry.)

I've noticed a trend of folks at work being obsessed with generating big, game-changing ideas lately. The truth is, small ideas that build upon each other are just as game changing, easier to sell and far more doable.

I'm always fascinated by articles about productivity and morning routines. These millennial women have morning routines I can get down for.

This Newsweek cover story on women in Silicon Valley is getting a lot of buzz for the cover, but check the article itself. Good stats, interesting anecdotes and bullshit quotes like this:

“Women don’t look like winners. So they can’t fail, while boys in the club can,” Wadhwa says.

If we were hanging our feminist hopes on the crock pot, well, I don't know what to tell you, ladies.

Amal Clooney shuts down a reporter's stupid question about fashion in one elegant statement.

What can a pregnant photojournalist cover? Everything. Props to Lynsey Addario for saying what so many women think but feel unempowered to admit: even if you're already pregnant, some women worry about children totally ruining their career.

The 50 best first sentences in fiction

Oh, McSweeney's. Proving once again sarcasm and humor make a point better than being super serious about it sometimes. Reasons you weren't promoted totally unrelated to your gender.

The most dangerous man in politics. (Oooohhhh!)

Leadership lessons from top female execs (including my perennial girl crush, Cindy Gallop).

Restaurant critics are dropping the veil of anonymity and facing up to what we've all known for ages: everyone already know who the fuck you are.

Disregard all the "likes" and immature language, this article about dating outgoing introverts is pretty spot on

Age 40: aint nobody got time for that.

A toddler and her dad really get into it. (d'aawwwww)

I've been jamming to my friend Brian's booty mix on Spotify which is a collection of downbeat jams and old school tracks like today's jam. Enjoy your weekend lovahs!
